White spots are often caused by a high-fluoride intake as a child but can be caused by trauma and illness. They give teeth a mottled appearance and can make people self-conscious when they smile. Traditionally, these spots are treated with drilling away at the surface or by covering up with veneers. Icon is a non-invasive treatment for removing white spots from the surface of the teeth and only takes a single session.
What does the treatment involve?
Icon uses a special gel that is left on the tooth for a couple of minutes. This is rinsed off and then dried before applying a special material that repairs the tooth and provides an even finished. This material is called an infiltrant and it is cured using a special light. Once we are happy with the appearance, we polish your teeth.
